One of the famous “Dining Boat” from the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, Bamboo Village has been opened for more than 37 years even since it moved ashore back in 1986. Well known for its typhoon shelter style dishes, the interior of the shop imitated the lifestyle of the fisherman, and it has been kept that way even after several refurbishments, no wonder it attracts so many celebrities from Hong Kong, Korea and Mainland China. Situated in the same place in Temple Street, Jordan for 37 years is not easy, Bamboo Village has faced numerous challenges and witnessed the economy take-off, and the secret of its success can be summed up in two words: technique and sincerity. Every single bite of crab meat or roast duck can bring you back on a nostalgic trip to the good old dining boat days, and you will crave for more.
The fundamentals of excellent customer service start and end with the team. This explains why the dishes of Bamboo Village can be kept in such a high standard over all these years. First, most of the staffs have been working here for a very long time, including executive chef and several others, who have been working here since the opening. And the staffs have worked on average for more than 20 years, thus they are all very familiar with the loyal diners, not only remember what their favorite dishes are, but they are just like friends who you can share anything with. Secondly, as a typhoon shelter style restaurant, we focus on maintaining the standard instead of being fancy, and along with the other 30 plus dishes, they aim to bring the authentic typhoon shelter style tastes to both local and oversea foodies alike.
Another charm of this old name is its sincere service, which allows us to win the customers’ affection with good food. What we mean sincere service here is we insist on using beyond the best ingredients, like the crabs we offer are selected from the big meat crabs that are brought in by aircraft from Vietnam every single day. Even the simple seasonings such as pepper, garlic and onion, all are prepared and consumed within same day, which drastically improves the flavor of dishes. Same for the Six Poached Dishes, coming with six exotic sides of innards and sea creatures including pig tongue, intestine, squid and jelly fish. And the green chives are washed one by one, keeping only the green youngest part, to make our dishes even tastier.
In addition to our extensive menu of typhoon shelter seafood dishes, we put a lot of effort on our slow-cooked soup presentation too. Our passions and quality are definitely proven and make us popular all year round.
